REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. Please Join us at the event on May 1st!
Rules of Competition
- Participants must be undergraduates at Bard College.
- Poem must be recited in English (translations into English are welcome).
- The poem’s author must be deceased.
- Full texts only, no excerpts.
- Recitation length: no longer than 3 minutes (time yourself in a practice run).
- If the number of applicants exceeds the slots available, applicants will be selected on a “first come” basis.
- Entry deadline: Thursday, April 23rd, 2026
We’re thrilled that you’re interested in the Mullen Recitation Prize contest!
As of now, April 14th, we are at capacity. However, we encourage you to still register.
Your will be put on the wait list. If any slots open, names will be moved to the contest list in the order in which they were received. We expect to write to everyone on the wait list by April 23rd. In past years, one or more contestants have dropped out after entering.
And of course, we hope that you will in any case join us for the event!
